2020 CONFERENCE INDIANA CHAMPIONS!

Saturday, September 19 2020

With a perfect morning and fantastic course at CERAland Park, the 3rd ranked Columbus North Girls Cross Country team repeated as the Conference Indiana Cross Country Champions and added our first individual champion since 2015 courtesy of Mackenzie Barnett.  The girls outran the field with 22 points- outdistancing runner-up Bloomington North with 52 points and third place Bloomington South with 68.  Barnett captured the individual crown with fantastic time of 18:10 to move to 5th All-Time on the CN 5k list.  Teammates Lily Baker and Brianna Newell ran a close 2nd and 3rd place to help the Bull Dogs go 1-2-3 in the race to start off a remarkable morning of racing.

The Bull Dogs continued the dominant morning by placing all seven varsity runners on the Conference Indiana All-Conference team.  Ellen White (7th), Jessica Meza (9th), Julie Klaus (11th), and Sydney Morlok (12th) all earned the All-Conference distinction with their performances!  CNXC runners did not quit with that performance as they took 14 of the Top 25 overall places in the meet.  An amazing 12 girls broke the magical 20:00 barrier in the race.

This victory marks the 17th Conference Indiana title in 24 years of the meet being conducted.  This also marks the beginning of our championship season as the girls being to prep for the Sectional on October 10th at Eagle Park hosted by Brown County High School.

After the race, CNXC recognized the contributions of this year's senior class.  Mackenzie Barnett, Soumya Paliwal, Nela Riddle, Adeline Rush, Megan Saeger, and Arek Tong have all contributed mightily to our program over the last four years.  Each student-athlete should be proud of their individual accomplishments and the accomplishments of the team they have helped lead over the past four seasons.  Thank you for your dedication and hard work to help us recognize the potential and dreams we all have.
