CNXC Girls Win the Columbus North Regional

Monday, October 19 2020

CNXC Girls convincingly won the Columbus North Regional Saturday morning at CERAland Park.  The Bull Dogs scored 19 points to outdistance Brown County's 85 points.  The Bull Dogs were led by a 1-2-3 finish from Mackenzie Barnett, Brianna Newell, and Lily Baker.  Mackenzie's time of 18:04 is the #2 time in school history and earned her the individual Regional title.

"Our girls ran absolutely amazing today. From 1-7 it was a tremendous effort. We had 5 personal bests today and another just off it. We had 5 girls break 19:00 for the first time in a long time at CN. Scoring 19 points and putting all 7 of our varsity in the Top 10 is something this team should be proud of accomplishing."

"Mackenzie Barnett did a great job leading again today and ran the #2 time in school history with her 18:04 finish. To win the Sectional and Regional as a senior shows exactly what hard work can accomplish. Brianna Newell also ran a Top 10 time in program history with an amazing 18:19 to finish runner-up. Lily Baker finished our 1-2-3 with another PR of 18:31."

"Julie Klaus and Abby Jacobi finished out our scoring finishing 6th and 7th in 18:58. They ran amazing PR's to finish out 5 under 19:00 for us. Both Ellen White and Jessica Meza ran probably as well as any 6th and 7th runners in the state today to bump all runners in the meet back two extra spots except 3 runners. Just a lights out performance top to bottom."

"This performance should help us prep for the Semi-State next week at Brown County as we try to defend our title from 2019."

Tentative time schedule for the meet has the girls race starting at 11:30 a.m.  The bus will leave from the school at 8:45 a.m. unless there are changes to the schedule.  Tickets are $8 and must be purchased at https://gofan.co/app/school/IN293
